Mentorship

Lisa teaches playwriting, collaboration, interdisciplinary performance and mentors playwrights and collectives who devise work.

Her workshops and classes incorporate her own work and process, in-class exercises and reading plays in concert with essays and perforamnce texts such as Trickster Makes this World by Lewis Hyde, GRAPEFRUIT by Yoko Ono and Theatrical Jazz by Omi Osun Joni L. Jones.

Lisa has taught in universities, writing centers, theaters and high schools. Most recently, Lisa served as the Distinguished Lecturer in Playwriting at the University of Houston, a position first established for Edward Albee. As the Distinguished Lecturer, she visited campus three times per year for workshops, lectures and class appearances, and mentored Juniors and Seniors in the BFA Playwriting Program. She will cycle out of this position in 2027.
